Need a lifeguard? Mine walks on water. (Week of July 8-14) Matthew 14:25-31 As I watched the children playing in the water, I began to look around to see if there was a lifeguard on duty. When I saw that there wasn't one, it made me think of a time when I was drowning. (As many of you know, I don't know how to swim.) I was wading in the shallow end of a river in the Philippines. Soon, I found myself in the deep end. I tried to swim, but couldn't. The more I struggled, the more I sank. I started yelling for help, and a friend of mine came, helped me out of the water, and saved my life. In our lives, we go through the same type of situation. Things seem to be going well, but soon we find ourselves in a deep mess. We fight to get out, but things only seem to get worse. That's when we call to the Lord for help, and immediately, Jesus reaches out His hand and brings us above our struggles. When Peter began to sink in Matthew 14:29, Jesus walked to him, reached out His hands, and brought him out above the water. This reminds us that GOD will never leave us nor forsake us. So when you find yourself in the deep end, looking for a lifeguard to save you, just remember Jesus walks on water.
